Łukasz Kuźma, MD, PhD, Principal Invesigator

Medical University of Bialystok, Bialystok, Poland

Łukasz Kuźma is a cardiologist, specialist in internal medicine, and assistant professor in the Department of Invasive Cardiology at the Medical University of Bialystok. Graduate of Public Health, Management and Finance, Medical Technology Assessment, and Evidence-Based Medicine. His scientific activity is centered around cardiology and public health mainly with the use of “big data” in the prevention, treatment, monitoring, and epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases. A significant area of his research interest is air pollution and climate change.

Emil Julian Dąbrowski, MD, PhD student

Emil Julian Dąbrowski graduated from the Medical University of Białystok in 2021. Currently is a PhD student at the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. Main research interests lie in the field of impact of air pollution on health, percutaneous coronary interventions, and population medicine. Emil Dąbrowski is an author or a co-author of multiple major conference presentations, including ESC Congress, ESC Preventive and original research articles.
 

Adam Bolesław Gryko, MD

Adam Bolesław Gryko graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Białystok in 2019. In 2019-2020, he studied Bioethics at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw. Since 2020, he has been working at the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. His research interests focus on population medicine and cardiology.

Piotr Jemielita, MD, PhD Student

Piotr Jemielita graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw in 2021. Currently is a PhD student at the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. Primary research interests revolve around the impact of non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors, with a particular focus on light and noise pollution.

Paweł Kralisz, MD

Medical University of Bialystok, Bialystok, Poland

Paweł Kralisz is a Deputy Head of the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. His scientific work is focused on chronic coronary syndromes and valvular heart diseases treatment with advanced invasive procedures such as rotational atherectomy or transcatheter procedures. He published over 80 papers and his total IF is 69.

Anna Kurasz, MD, PhD student

Anna Kurasz graduated from the Medical University of Bialystok in 2022. Currently is a PhD student at the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. Main research interests include cardiology and public health, with a focus on atrial fibrillation, air pollution, and climate change. Anna Kurasz has authored and co-authored numerous research papers presented at conferences as well as original research articles. She won the award for best abstract in the population science & public health category at the ESC Preventive Cardiology 2021 Congress.

Michał Święczkowski, MD

Michał Święczkowski graduated from Medical University of Białystok in 2021. Currently is in the middle of his internship at the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. Michał Święczkowski presented his work at multiple conferences, such as ESC Congress and ESC Preventive. His main research interests lie in chronobiology and the influence of ambient air pollution on human health.

Krzysztof Struniawski, MD, PhD

Krzysztof Struniawski graduated from the Medical University of Bialystok in 2015 and has been employed in the Department of Invasive Cardiology, Medical University of Bialystok, Poland ever since. Board-certified in internal medicine, his scientific areas of interest include preventive cardiology and epidemiology of diseases of civilization.

Prof. Hanna Bachórzewska-Gajewska, MD

Medical University of Bialystok, Bialystok, Poland

Prof. Hanna Bachórzewska-Gajewska is the Deputy Head of the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. Her scientific work is focused on chronic coronary syndrome occurrence and complications, population medicine, and renal dysfunction. Prof. Bachórzewska-Gajewska was 4 times a doctorate supervisor, her total IF is 190 and h-index value is 20.

Prof. Sławomir Dobrzycki, MD

Prof. Sławomir Dobrzycki is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology. He is the Head of the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok. His Department is a training center for advanced invasive procedures such as rotational atherectomy, FFR, IVUS. Main research interests lie in acute coronary syndromes and invasive treatment of coronary disease. Prof. Dobrzycki was 6 times a doctorate supervisor, his total IF is 350 and h-index value is 24.
 

Prof. Gregory Y. H. Lip, MD, FRCP, DFM, FACC, FESC

Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Science, University of Liverpool and Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital, Liverpool, United Kingdom

Professor Lip is a clinical researcher, with a major interest in the epidemiology of atrial fibrillation (AF), as well as the pathophysiology of thromboembolism in this arrhythmia. He has been researching stroke and bleeding risk factors, and improvements in clinical risk stratification. The CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED scores – for assessing stroke and bleeding risk, respectively – were first proposed and independently validated following his research, and are now incorporated into international guidelines. He is passionate about using ‘big data’ and epidemiological observations to generate hypotheses and to inform clinical studies that help improve the management of common cardiovascular conditions, such as atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and thrombosis.

Prof. Jolanta Małyszko, MD

Prof. Jolanta Małyszko is the Head of the Department of Nephrology, Dialysis and Internal Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw. Her main research interests are biomarkers in AKI, iron metabolism, cardiovascular complications in CKD, and onconephrology. Her scientific achievements include over ten thousand citations, h-index of 45, and total IF of 1207. She is a member of the Executive Council of KDIGO (Kidney Diseases Improving Global Outcomes).
 

Prof. Goce A. Spasovski, MD, FERA

University of Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia

Prof. Spasovski is an investigator in clinical trials related to the progression of CKD, anemia, CKD – MBD and especially in bone biopsy-based studies, immunotolerance in kidney transplant recipients, etc. His academic carrier is supported by more than 485 published articles and book chapters in peer-reviewed and national journals, and many lectures on topics related to chronic kidney disease, dialysis and mineral and bone disorders, kidney transplantation. He is also a Steering Committee member of the South-Eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN) on organ donation and transplantation development, a member of the ISN GO Central & East European Committee, as well as the KDIGO Implementation Task Force leader for central and east Europe. His academic opus has 198 Medline cited articles, 6300 google scholar citations, and a Hirsh index of 38.

Prof. Anna Tomaszuk-Kazberuk, MD

Prof. Anna Tomaszuk-Kazberuk is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology. She is the Deputy Head of the Department of Cardiology of the Medical University of Białystok and Voivodeship Cardiology Consultant. Her main scientific interests are in atrial fibrillation, thromboembolic events, and anticoagulation. She is an author or co-author of 147 articles with a total IF of 159, and her h-index is 12.
